Job Description:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processes for Australian employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting in accordance with local tax laws and labor regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and timely year-end payroll reporting in line with business and statutory requirements.
- Collect, compile, and enter payroll data in the system with a strong focus on accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate the timely receipt of inputs and ensure the on-time delivery of payroll data as per agreed timelines.
- Calculate garnishments and ensure 100% compliance with applicable rules and legislation.
- Perform monthly payroll and headcount reconciliations, variance analysis, and bank file reconciliations.
- Create and maintain payroll compliance checklists and validate payroll data before final submission.
- Support internal and external payroll audits by preparing necessary reports and documentation.
- Ensure timely delivery of bank files and payroll reports as per internal and client SLAs.
- Submit all payroll-related statutory data (e.g., PAYG, Superannuation, state payroll taxes) accurately and on time.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and ensure compliance with local payroll tax laws and regulations across Australian states.
- Demonstrate understanding of the tax treatment of employer-paid and one-time benefits.
- Stay up to date with Australia labor laws, including the Fair Work Act and other relevant employment standards.
- Monitor and implement legislative updates into payroll systems and processes.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- 3+ years of experience in processing Australia payroll.
- Background in Payroll, HR, Finance, or Payroll Systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).
- Thorough knowledge of Australia employment laws and regulations, including the Fair Work Act.
- Familiarity with PAYG, payroll tax, Superannuation, and termination payments (including lump sums and taxation).
- Ability to manage deadlines under pressure in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas, etc.).
- Experience working in outsourcing/shared services environments or managing large payroll volumes is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving ability.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with payroll software or platforms (e.g., ADP, Ascender, or similar)
- Certification in payroll or HR (desirable, not mandatory)
